Want to Tag 6 years onto your life?
I’m excited to announce my new venture, Zor Guided Health. Zor is a Persian derived word that means strength and vitality. After taking a pause in my career, I am rediscovering the joy of being a doctor and helping patients find their Zor. Zor Guided Health is a virtual lifestyle medicine practice where I aim to provide additional guidance to patients around healthy habits based on the 5 main pillars of wellness: nutrition, sleep, movement, stress reduction, and mindfulness.
I think most would agree that health and wellbeing are the cornerstones of living happy and fulfilling lives. But how do we define health? Prevalent frameworks have defined health as the absence of disease, but wellbeing goes beyond that. An in-depth report by McKinsey reveals that by expanding our understanding of health we can potentially add 6 quality years of life, or 45 billion total years of life across the globe. This holistic approach includes focusing on physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. Instead of focusing on lifespan (the number of years we live), we need to refocus on our healthspan, the years we live with a high quality of life.
While current health systems focus on “sick” care, we must shift our energy and our resources (yes, dollars), towards prevention, optimizing health and quality of life. Until governments and insurance models make this more of a priority, the onus is on individuals to take steps to ensure our healthspan.
In my work, I emphasize and help you implement quality sleep, purposeful movement, nutrition, stress reduction, and mindfulness into your daily routine. Together, we can lay the groundwork for longer, healthier, more productive lives. We are living in an era where innovations empower us to work on these individual pillars of wellness with data, from wearables, labs, and physical testing. In shifting from reacting and paying for medical issues as they arise to investing in your health, there is no better way to ensure a longer healthspan.
