Exercise Snacks- The Snack You Didn’t Know You Need!
A study published in 2022 showed promising data that multiple short ≤ 1min bursts of vigorous activity throughout the day can be very beneficial for your cardiorespiratory fitness levels. The research is an extension of what we already know about HIIT (high intensity interval training), which is bouts of intense activity separated by short periods of rest. Turns out, you may reap the same benefits if you spread out that intense activity throughout the day. With the snacking method, you retain the same benefits to your endurance, muscle efficiency, and insulin sensitivity as you would with traditional HIIT.
“Snacking” also breaks up your sedentary sitting time, an all too common source of health problems, like weight gain, diabetes, and high cholesterol. And the best part is, no equipment, gym memberships, or special clothing is required.
